2025 Public Holidays China Service
The above is the list of 2025 public holidays declared in China which includes federal, regional government holidays and popular observances. We also provide China holiday calendar for 2025 in Word, Excel, PDF and printable online formats.
The People's Republic of China enjoys seven official public holidays each year. The General Office of the State Council announces the holidays for each year about three weeks before the start of the year. The Central People’s Government of China (also known as the State Council) is the highest state administrative authority in China. The General Office of the State Council is responsible for the setting up the country's official holiday dates for the following year, usually in November or December.
Chinese holidays are sophisticated and one of the least predictable among developed nations. In each of these holidays, should the holiday land on the weekend, itis moved to after the weekend. It is also distinctive that in the country, weekends are usually swapped with the weekdays next to the actual holiday to create a more extended holiday period.
The State Council usually declares a seven-day holiday each time there is a three-day holiday. That takes place primarily during the country's largest and most important holiday, the Spring Festival. The term "Golden Week" is used to signify a 7-day national holiday – customarily the Spring Festival holidays (around January/February) and the National Day holidays (which begins on 1 October). The citizens must work or attend school on a nearby weekend. Business and schools treat the affected weekends as weekdays with which the weekend is swapped. Even though the guidelines are already provided late in the prior year by the central Chinese government, they may be altered during the current year.
