Mexico's public holidays are categorized into three: Statutory holidays, civil holidays and festivities. Statutory holidays are the national holidays in which government offices are closed, and workers were given a paid day off. When the statutory day falls on a Sunday the next working day is set aside for the celebrations. Civic holidays are public holidays honored nationally, but workers are not entitled to a day off.
