Under the Norway act Respecting Public Holidays and their Sanctity 1995, Norway government has created ten official public holidays. Under the law, all employees are entitled to a paid day off during the public holidays. Government offices and businesses remain closed during national holidays.

Military shows, cultural dances and songs too mark the day. This holiday is a mark of the day Norway constitution was signed.
